RDG-1504C Roadbuilder general features

  • Four cylinder, turbocharged-aftercooled, Tier 3 engines deliver the power to move full blade loads of even wet material quickly.
  • Four wheel drive lets you drive easily over broken ground.
  • Independent braking systems operate even when oil, air, electrical or transmission pressure fails.
  • Hydraulic system for steering and all blade adjustment functions automatically adjusts to increase power and operating cost efficiency.
  • Full reversing powershift transmission lets you match speeds to conditions.
  • Articulated frame (30 degrees each direction) and front wheel steering allow operator to comfortably maneuver into cross cuts and lets operator choose grading positions.
  • Forward facing, center position operator station gives operator clear view of the grading action.
  • Moldboard blade is wear-resistant, high-carbon steel with replaceable wear inserts for long life.

Engine/drivetrain

Newer-technology, electronically controlled Detroit Diesel (Mercedes) engine rated 147 hp (110 kw) at 2,200 rpm. Includes design improvements that reduce emission levels, fuel consumption and maintenance while enhancing engine protections and diagnostics. Equipped with catalytic exhaust conditioner and muffler, auto shutdown at high temperature, low psi or fire suppression and a 60-gal (227 L) fuel tank.

Features rubber 10.00x20-16PR mine service tires and a full reversing, four-speed Funk 2000 powershift transmission. The solid steel Caterpillar front axle has a 32-degree oscillation, which enables crowding the ribs safety without dumping material. Also features 50-degree wheel-turn and 18-degree wheel lean, which allows blade leveling and maneuvering around pillars. Double reduction, four wheel bogie rear axle. Manual diff-lock.

Brakes

Equipped with full hydraulic-applied, multiple-disc, oil-immersed brakes in a split system, right/left. Each system features an accumulator pressure gauge and low-pressure warning light. Also features a spring-applied, hydraulic-released wet disc park and supplemental brake, transmission neutralizer and test button for park brake testing.

Hydraulics

The hydraulic system, with 40 gpm (151 Lpm) maximum flow piston with pressure-compensating, load-sensing hydraulic pump, enhances power availability and operating cost efficiency. The system delivers only the amount of pressure required for activated circuits, leaving more horsepower available for the drive wheels. 25-gal (94.6 L) hydraulic reservoir.

Blade

Produces more than 15,700 lbs of tractive effort while applying more than 14,500 lbs of working effort into the 12-ft Caterpillar 120H moldboard blade, enough to move more dirt than any motor grader available in the U.S. Drawbar and full circle with hydraulic drive worm gear with slipclutch and 30-degree angle adjustment to efficiently create and clean drainage ditches.

It takes GUTS

Our rugged Roadbuilder is one component of GUTS (Getman Underground Transport System) that gives coal mines a complete system that stands up to tough mining conditions to efficiently move equipment, materials, supplies and people. GUTS also includes our Tow Tractor for hauling supplies and materials quickly and efficiently, our HydraHauler for moving longwall sections more quickly than scoops or shield haulers and our TerraPro for transporting personnel comfortably and safely.
